Frequently Asked Questions

Sandyford provides training for medical and nursing professionals wishing to continue their professional development and gain experience in sexual and reproductive health.

We also train medical and nursing students via the University of Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of the West of Scotland.

Most of our training will take place in Sandyford Central, 6 Sandyford Place, in Glasgow city centre. If a training session is moved to one of our hubs, candidates will be notified by the training department.

Due to the volume of formal training we provide our capability to accept shadow or placement requests from both trainee and senior medical staff is limited.

If you're interested in shadowing one of our team, please contact the training department who will advise if we are able to accommodate your request.

We are currently not able to offer placements to counselling students. We will update this section of the website should this change in the future.

Our capability to provide external training is extremely limited by our formal training commitments, however we are now in a position to start offering some external training for LARC methods. If you have previously been trained in LARC but feel you need a refresher session to help re-build your confidence then please email the training department. If you have not been trained in LARC and wish to commence this training please email the training department.

We generally support staff to gain confidence to lead on these type of events by offering staff training. However we can sometimes support those who are most vulnerable. Please email The Communication & Engagement team to discuss options.
