When a referral is needed to access Sandyford services
While patients can self-refer for most of our services, some require a referral from a healthcare professional.
- Adult Gender Services: These require referral via SCI pathway.
- Young Person Gender Services: These require referral via SCI pathway.
- Complex genitourinary medicine (GUM) service: Require a referral via SCI pathway. This service is for presentations such as recurrent symptoms or infections (e.g. vaginal discharge, vulvovaginitis, genital herpes, urethritis). Please note that between GUM complex review appointments primary care clinicians may be asked to prescribe ongoing medication or support patients with recurrent symptoms.
- Menopause: These require referral via SCI pathway.
- Vasectomy and Genital Warts: These services accept self-referrals however patients can also request referral through their GP.
- If patients need extra support: Sandyford Inclusion Team can provide support for people who require extra support to access our Sandyford Sexual Health Services. They can ensure patients receive an appropriate appointment at a clinic to support their needs.
