The Sandyford Inclusion & Outreach Team offers support to priority groups who may need extra support accessing sexual health services.
Key groups who may need extra support include:
- Anyone with addiction issues/anyone who injects drugs
- Anyone experiencing homelessness
- Refugees and Asylum Seekers
- Women who have had children removed from their care
- Anyone living with physical or learning disabilities
- Anyone whose spoken language is not English
- Anyone who sells or exchanges sex
- Women with active Health Visiting/Family Nurse Partnership/Social Work involvement
- People experiencing mental health issues
Inclusion & Outreach Team Referral Pathway
Relationships and Sexual Health (R&SH) is a wide agenda. Some Vulnerable Adult Clients are best seen by a local pharmacist or GP. Some will need to see specialist sexual health clinicians. Others may need a resource to view to update their knowledge. R&SH work can also include building staff capacity within your organisation.
Following the referral pathway will ensure your clients receive the most appropriate support in a timely manner.

For non-clinical issues
Contact the Sexual Health Improvement Team
The Sandyford Sexual Health Improvement team can offer support to organisations (not individual patients) with non-clinical issues such as:
- Building capacity of staff (developing knowledge and confidence of staff to discuss sexual health)
- Sign posting to resources on Relationships and Sexual Health (R&SH)
- Supplying condoms via the Free Condoms Service
For clinical issues:
Conditions for local pharmacist or GP
Conditions that the local pharmacy can help with in the first instance:
- Thrush/BV
- Free condoms
- Urinary tract infections
Conditions that should be referred to a GP in the first instance:
- Routine contraception and period control (pills and jag)
- Genital warts
- Breast problems
- Fertility
- Routine ultra sound scanning
- Circumcision/urethral strictures
- Urinary and bowel problems
- Physical trauma related to sexual assault or FGM
- Diagnosis of FGM/Confirmation of FGM

Any adult over 18 with an ongoing Sexual or Reproductive Health need who falls into one of the Key Support Groups noted at the top of this page can be referred to the Sandyford Inclusion & Outreach Team. This can include:
- Symptoms suggestive of an STI (vaginal, penile or rectal discharge, pelvic or testicular pain)
- STI testing – for example chlamydia and gonorrhoea
- Implant and coil fittings
The Inclusion & Outreach team provide sexual health-related clinical care from Sandyford Central as well as various Outreach locations.
These services are available to anyone who requires extra support to be able to access specialised clinical care within Sexual Health services in Greater Glasgow and Clyde. We aim to support patients to be able to easily make appointments.
