People who need extra support

Everyone is entitled to bring someone with them to their appointment. You do not need to tell us in advance. This could be a friend, family member, carer, or support worker.

If you need additional support to this, the Sandyford Inclusion Team can give you advice and help you get an appointment at a clinic that suits your needs.

If you are a professional in health care and need information on our Inclusion Team, please visit this page.

On this page you can learn more about:

Contacting the Sandyford Inclusion Team

Support for those with learning disabilities

If you have a Learning Disability you can request a Double Appointment time.  This will allow you time to ask questions and make sure you understand everything. Please call 0141 211 8130 to make the appointment and explain your needs.

However, if you feel you need additional support further to this please contact the Inclusion team instead and they will support you.

If you are homeless, experiencing addiction, or are an asylum seeker

The Inclusion Team also run outreach clinics in association with homeless, addiction and asylum services. If you are supported by one of these please speak to them in the first instance if you would like a sexual health appointment. If you are not connected to a service and feel there are additional barriers preventing you from booking an appointment with us, please contact the Inclusion Team, who will provide advice and support.

One of the team will then ask you a few questions and make an appointment to meet your needs.

Additional information for asylum seekers and refugees

Sandyford welcomes asylum seekers and refugees to use our sexual health services. If you need to see us, a referral will normally be organised at your initial medical screening. However, you can self referral at any time in your asylum journey if you live within Greater Glasgow and Clyde. As part of the NHS you do not need to pay for this service. It’s open to women and trans men living in the West of Scotland. You can self-refer and there’s no requirement to tell them about your experience. It’s a confidential service and all staff are trauma-informed. The clinic runs out of Sandyford. Find out more.
