What do I do if there are no appointments available online ?
If no appointments are available online then we are fully booked. The online booking portal and our phonelines operate from the same system so additional appointments won’t be offered over the phone. Please continue checking regularly for appointments which will be online as they become available.
The portal is currently being improved. More information on the portal can be found here.
I tried to call but I can’t get through
Our phonelines are very busy due to the high demand for our services. This is why we ask you only call us if the service you need requires booking over the phone. Check our Quick Guide on booking above to make sure this is the case.
As all of our services require booking ahead we ask that you please don’t come to clinic without a booking as we won’t be able to offer any additional appointments.
Please note: Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday, 8:45 – noon, 1pm – 4pm. If you call between noon and 1pm, please try again later as our phones are not manned during this time.
You have no coil appointments available but I need to have mine removed or replaced
Our coil appointments are amongst our most in-demand. Because of this, we advise patients to continue checking the online booking portal regularly for new appointments being released. We don’t have additional appointments over the phone.
If your removal or replacement is overdue, please speak to your GP. Updated guidance on when coils expire can be found on our Contraception page.
If you are experiencing any unusual symptoms please speak with your GP or call 111.
Who can I bring with me to my appointment?
Everyone is entitled to bring someone with them to their appointment and you don’t need to arrange this ahead of time. You will be given the opportunity to speak to us privately first if you wish. However please note that the person accompanying you must be 16 or over.
If possible, please avoid bringing children to your appointment unless someone can stay with them in the waiting area. Consultations may involve sensitive questions about your sexual history and could include procedures in a medical setting that are not safe for unsupervised children. If we’re unable to carry out your appointment safely, we won’t be able to proceed. Thank you for your understanding.
Do you offer extra support to people who need it?
Yes, support is available to people who may have difficulties accessing our sexual health services on their own.
Patients can bring a carer or a support worker to their appointments if they need this. However, if you need different or additional support to this, the Sandyford Inclusion Team can help ensure you receive an appropriate care. Find out more
Is my information confidential?
Sandyford staff may ask personal or sensitive questions so they can manage your care effectively. Staff are not there to judge you. Anything you say will be kept confidential, unless you are being referred to another service with your permission, or in very rare situations if the staff need to share information for your own protection.
What you tell our staff isn’t going to shock or embarrass them, but it is important to be honest so that we know how best to help you.
We will hold an electronic record of your visit that is confidential to Sandyford services. It will only be shared with your GP or other services if you give permission.
